"Law in Climate Change": Lecture series of the Graduate School of Law & Forum Basiliense

Human-induced climate change threatens the livelihoods of present and future generations. It is the most visible expression of the Anthropocene, the geological era that identifies humans as the main factor influencing the biological, geological and atmospheric processes of the planet. The lecture series examines the possibilities of law to react to the consequential problems of climate change. Our thesis is that as the climate changes, the law also changes or should change in order to contribute to overcoming the climate crisis. As a possible driver of legal mobilization, we will focus in particular on climate lawsuits. In addition to the fundamentals of law, all areas of law (international law, public law, private law, criminal law) will be discussed in the lecture series.
