Ricarda Winkelmann is a Professor of Climate System Analysis at the University of Potsdam and founding director of the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology. Her research aims to examine the resilience of the Earth System in the Anthropocene, identify tipping points, and explore stability landscapes of critical geophysical, ecological and societal components. She won numerous honors and awards, including the 2018 Academics’ Young Scientist of the Year Award by Zeit Publishing Group.

In this workshop, Ricarda Winkelmann invites Early Career Scholars (at PhD, postdoc, and Assistant Professor level) from all faculties and academic disciplines to a conversation about (interdisciplinary) Earth System science, how best to communicate societally relevant research to the general public, as well as tips and tricks on how to navigate the early career stages of the academic journey. The workshop will be interactive and dynamic, with ample opportunities for questions and answers.
